Many types of educational opportunities exist in the Port Townsend area, from day care, pre-school and kindergarten to college-level and vocational programs. There are also numerous vocational programs for learning a unique skill no matter what your age or experience. See sections in the navigation on the left.
Several alternative youth education options, including private schools, multi-age, parental-involvement programs through the public schools, and a very active home-schooling group give children a wide variety of choices for their educational needs. There are also a number of youth programs available, from dancing to theatre and outdoor educational opportunities, plus an active YMCA.
Teens have numerous options as well including the local public school system and some innovative programs, such as Mar Vista, that work with them.
Vocational, workshop and class options are numerous: massage, woodworking, boatbuilding, music and arts, cooking, gardening and agriculture are accessible and provide specialized skills and ongoing learning opportunities. Find contacts here or check the Event Calendar under "Classes and Workshops".
