The Port Townsend Main Street Program “Small Business Roundtable” series continues with a merchant seminar on the upcoming “Downtown Streetscape Project” at 8:30 am, Tuesday November 3, 2009 at the Public House, 1038 Water Street. Rick Sepler, Director of Development Services for the City of Port Townsend, will provide an overview of the City’s downtown streetscape project and anticipated timeframe.
The breakfast is an opportunity for businesses owners and downtown residents to learn about the plans the City has for the upcoming downtown streetscape project, as well as ask questions and talk about concerns. Joe Finnie, co-owner of the Swan Hotel, will discuss how their hotel prepared for the streetscape work over the past summer, their communication process with the City, and the long-term effects of this project for their business. “The Port Townsend Main Street Program’s goal is to work with the City and our businesses to minimize the negative effect on business and invite your involvement to help ensure we have an attractive, visitor-friendly town for years to come,” says Susan Windle, President of the Port Townsend Main Street Board, and co-owner of Forest Gems.
Coffee and muffins will be provided. Please rsvp to admin@ptmainstreet.org or call the Port Townsend Main Street Program office at (360)385-7911.
In January 2010, business input will be requested at a design charette, co-hosted by the City and the Port Townsend Main Street Program. The Port Townsend Main Street Program will be working with the landscape architect and encourage suggestions and input on aspects of the streetscape plan to maximize the project’s enhancement of the historic business district.
