Songwriting Works Community Song Celebration Benefit November 11, 2009 - November 11, 2009 STARTS: 7:00 p.m. LOCATION: Quimper Unitarian Universalist Church 2333 San Juan Ave. Port Townsend
On Veteran's Day, Songwriting Works on the Olympic Peninsula (SWOP) will celebrate a year of writing original songs with elders, their family and friends in Jefferson and Clallam counties. The project is funded by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
Doors open at 6:30pm, with concert starting at 7pm. The venue, Quimper Unitarian Universalist Church is located at 2333 San Juan Ave. Port Townsend, WA 98368. The venue is fully wheelchair accessible.
The concert program will feature new songs ranging from sea stories to family recipes to an anthem honoring veterans of WWII. Performers include project participants and local professional songwriters Judith-Kate Friedman (project director), Matt Sircely, Paula Lalish, Keeth Monta Apgar, Anke Summerhill (SWOP apprentice facilitators), with special guests Laurence Cole and PT Songlines Choir and Daniel Deardorff.
The concert will benefit the expansion of Songwriting Works' local musician training and community workshops.

Reservations are recommended. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.
